Shahid Kapoor's O Romeo Censor Certificate and Theatrical Runtime Revealed
Mumbai, February 10 – Shahid Kapoor's much-anticipated action drama O Romeo has reportedly completed its censor formalities, with the film receiving an A (Adults Only) certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). It is the first theatrical movie of the actor to recieve A certificate since Kabir Singh (2019).
The Vishal Bhardwaj directorial is set to hit cinemas with a theatrical runtime of 2 hours and 58 minutes, making it one of the longer, content-heavy releases of the year. The film will be distributed by Pen Movies, which has been aggressively expanding its footprint in the theatrical market with big-ticket Hindi releases.
Interestingly, the A certificate no longer appears to be a box-office deterrent. In recent years, A-rated films have been doing wonders theatrically, defying the long-held belief that restricted certification limits commercial potential. Films like Dhurandhar, Animal, Salaar, Kabir Singh, among others, have shown that strong content, star power, and word of mouth can drive massive footfalls despite age restrictions.
There is a growing notion among the fans that adult certifications often add to the curiosity and perceived intensity of a film rather than hurting its prospects. In Shahid Kapoor's case, the A rating seems perfectly aligned with his character arc in O Romeo, which promises raw emotions, brutal action, and morally complex storytelling—territory the actor has previously excelled in with films like Haider and Kabir Singh.
Given the near three-hour runtime, the makers appear confident about the narrative depth and theatrical engagement the film offers. With advance buzz steadily building, O Romeo is shaping up to be a crucial test case for how far A-rated, content-driven films can continue their box-office dominance in 2026. Produced by Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, the film is scheduled to release on February 13.
