Sunny Deol's Lahore 1947 With Rajkumar Santoshi Sets Independence Day 2026 Release

Mumbai, February 9 - Aamir Khan Productions has officially announced the release date of its long-awaited Lahore 1947. Starring Sunny Deol, the period action drama will be hitting worldwide theatres on August 13, 2026, strategically timed for the Independence Day week.

The release date announcement was shared with a formal note, confirming the long-anticipated collaboration and locking the film's big-screen debut during one of the most lucrative release windows of the year. The film marks a first-time collaboration of the trio of Sunny Deol, director Rajkumar Santoshi, and producer Aamir Khan, while it marks the reunion of Sunny with the director after nearly 3 decades.

Set against the backdrop of the Partition of India, Lahore 1947 is expected to blend historical gravitas with powerful storytelling. The film boasts an ensemble cast featuring Sunny Deol, Shabana Azmi, Preity G. Zinta, Abhimanyu Singh, Karan Deol, and Ali Fazal. The film's music is composed by A. R. Rahman, with lyrics by Javed Akhtar, while dialogues are penned by Rajkumar Santoshi and Asghar Wajahat.
