Cloris Leachman was an American actress with a long and illustrious career in film, television, and theatre. She was born on April 30, 1926, in Des Moines, Iowa, and began her career in the late 1940s.

Leachman appeared in numerous films throughout her career, including "Kiss Me Deadly," "The Last Picture Show," and "Young Frankenstein." She won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the 1971 film "The Last Picture Show," She played a lonely housewife in a small Texas town.

Leachman was also a familiar face on television, appearing in many shows throughout her career, including "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," "Phyllis," and "Malcolm in the Middle." She won eight Emmy Awards throughout her career, making her one of the most decorated performers in television history.

In addition to her film and television work, Leachman was a respected stage actress, appearing in numerous productions on and off Broadway. She won a Tony Award for her role in the 1973 Broadway production of "A Touch of the Poet."

Leachman was known for her versatility as an actress and was equally adept at comedy and drama. She had a sharp wit and a larger-than-life personality and was beloved by audiences and colleagues alike.
