David Niven (1910-1983) was a British actor and novelist, known for his charming and debonair screen persona. He was born in London and educated at Sandhurst Military Academy before beginning his acting career in the 1930s.

Niven appeared in numerous films throughout his career, including "Wuthering Heights" (1939), "The Bishop's Wife" (1947), and "Around the World in 80 Days" (1956), for which he won the Academy Award for Best Actor. He was also known for his role as Sir Charles Lytton in the "Pink Panther" film series.

Niven's easygoing charm and wit made him a popular choice for leading roles in romantic comedies, such as "Bachelor Mother" (1939) and "Please Don't Eat the Daisies" (1960). He was also an accomplished dramatic actor, appearing in films such as "Separate Tables" (1958) and "The Guns of Navarone" (1961).

In addition to his work in film, Niven was also a published author, writing several memoirs and novels throughout his career. He was also a decorated military veteran, having served in the British Army during World War II.

Niven passed away in 1983 at the age of 73, leaving behind a legacy as one of Britain's most beloved actors. His charm, humor, and talent continue to be celebrated by fans and critics alike.
