Jack Albertson (1907-1981) was an American actor, comedian, and singer. He was born in Malden, Massachusetts, and began his entertainment career as a vaudeville performer in the 1930s.

Albertson's career in film and television spanned over four decades. He appeared in numerous films, including "The Poseidon Adventure" (1972), "Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory" (1971), and "The Fox and the Hound" (1981). However, he is perhaps best known for his television roles, including his portrayal of Ed Brown in the sitcom "Chico and the Man" (1974-1978), for which he won an Emmy Award.

In addition to his acting career, Albertson was also a talented singer and musician. He recorded several albums and appeared in musicals on Broadway, including "The Sunshine Boys" (1972) and "The Subject Was Roses" (1964).

Albertson was a highly respected actor and was known for his versatility and ability to play a wide range of characters. He won numerous awards throughout his career, including an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the 1968 film "The Subject Was Roses".

Sadly, Albertson's career was cut short when he passed away from colon cancer in 1981 at the age of 74. However, his legacy lives on through his memorable performances and contributions to the entertainment industry.
