Timothy Hutton (born August 16, 1960) is an American actor and director known for his work in film, television, and theater. He was born in Malibu, California, and grew up in a family of actors.

Hutton made his film debut in "Ordinary People" (1980), for which he won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. He went on to star in a number of films throughout the 1980s and 1990s, including "Taps" (1981), "The Falcon and the Snowman" (1985), "Q&A" (1990), and "Beautiful Girls" (1996).

In addition to his film work, Hutton has also appeared in a number of television shows, including "Leverage," "American Crime," and "Jack Ryan." He won a Primetime Emmy Award for his performance in "Conspiracy" (2001).

Hutton has also worked extensively in theater, both as an actor and a director. He made his Broadway debut in "The Dark at the Top of the Stairs" (1979) and has appeared in numerous Off-Broadway productions. He has also directed productions of plays by David Mamet and Neil LaBute.
