Who Is Narendra Modi?

Narendra Modi is the current Prime Minister of India. He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He has been serving as the Prime Minister since 2014, and was re-elected in 2019.

Modi was born in the Indian state of Gujarat in 1950. He began his political career as a member of the RSS, a Hindu nationalist organization, and later joined the BJP. He served as the Chief Minister of Gujarat from 2001 to 2014, during which time he implemented several economic and infrastructure development initiatives in the state.

Modi campaigned for the office of Prime Minister on a platform of economic development and good governance. He promised to create jobs, attract foreign investment, and improve infrastructure in India.

After the victory of the BJP in the 2014 general elections, Modi was sworn in as the Prime Minister of India. Since taking office, he has implemented a number of economic and social programs, including the Make in India initiative to promote manufacturing in the country, the Jan Dhan Yojana financial inclusion program and Digital India, which aims to increase the use of technology in government services. He also launched a campaign called "Clean India" to improve sanitation and cleanliness in the country.

Modi is also known for his foreign policy initiatives such as Act East Policy and Neighbourhood First policy.

Modi is a polarizing figure in India and has been criticized for his handling of certain issues, including the economy and human rights. Nevertheless, he remains a popular leader and continues to enjoy significant support among the Indian electorate.
