After Dhurandhar, Sunny Deol's Border 2 Gets Banned In Gulf Countries

Mumbai, January 22 - Sunny Deol's much-anticipated war drama Border 2 is all set for a storming debut at the domestic box office, but has reportedly hit a roadblock in overseas markets as the film has reportedly been blocked from getting released in Gulf countries, just like recently released Dhurandhar.

According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the film will not get a theatrical release in Gulf countries, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, and Bahrain. The report states that distributors attempted to secure clearances for the film in these territories, despite knowing it was unlikely to make it due to its anti-Pakistan content.

This development closely mirrors what happened with Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar, which was also barred from release in Gulf nations recently. The ban significantly impacted Dhurandhar's overseas box office prospects despite the robust numbers, and Border 2 is now expected to face a similar limitation in international revenue.

Despite the Gulf ban, Border 2 is gearing up for a massive domestic release in India, where it is expected to dominate the Republic Day weekend with a wide release across more than 5,000 screens nationwide. Directed by Anurag Singh, the movie is the sequel to 1997's Border, which is hailed as one of the greatest Indian war films ever.

Also starring Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Anya Singh, and Medha Rana in pivotal roles, Border 2 is scheduled to release on January 23.
