Top 10 Highest-Grossing Malayalam Films At The Worldwide Box Office

Kochi, September 16 - The Malayalam film industry has been creating a sensation this year with three films out of the total 4 titles in the 200 crores club at the worldwide box office. After Mohanlal's Empuraan, emerging as the biggest worldwide grosser, his Thudarum followed it with big numbers despite failing to cross it.

Now, Kalyani Priyadarshan's superhero film Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra is on a mission to complete the unfinished work as it is on the verge of becoming the biggest Malayalam blockbuster of all time by beating the mighty Mohanlal. It has crossed 250 crores worldwide in 19 days, and is just around 15 crores behind to outgross Empuraan.

On the larger picture, the Malayalam film industry has delivered only 11 films in the 100 crores worldwide club, and nine of them have come in the last 2.5 years, and only four of them have gone on top 200 crores worldwide, which shows the rise of the industry, which is often regarded as the content factory of Indian cinema.
