She then went on to star in her own self-titled sitcom, "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" (1970-1977), where she played the role of Mary Richards, a single, career-driven woman. The show was groundbreaking in its portrayal of an independent woman in a male-dominated workplace and earned Moore four more Emmy Awards.
